IBM held a presentation on how changing technology and demographics will affect patterns of work in developed and developing countries, and the emerging skills of the future. Targeting the 'C-Suite,' there were interesting points around how NZ leaders will have to be more proactive in regards to Artificial Intelligence. Big thanks to AUT for providing BGS members the opportunity to attend this presentation!
Thanks to the Institute of Management New Zealand (IMNZ) in conjunction with IBM for the BGS member invitation to their Future of Work event held last week. There was great discussion on current research by IBM international v.s. what is faced by SMEs here locally in NZ. An interesting topic that came up was the influence of cross generational workplaces.
An interesting night at the EY Future Female Leaders evening on Tuesday. Thanks EY for inviting our BGS members. The big topic of discussion was centered around the challenges women have in the workplace, and how to grow and support each other going forward. Leadership, female role models and mentors were seen to be a few effective ways to grow future female talent in NZ and abroad.
A successful THOUGHT LAB #4 "A Revolution in Leadership is Starting". Alex Waddell, Director of Growth & Capability at Sigmoid Curve Consulting Group, gave a vibrant presentation that challenged our concept of the future of leadership in a changing world. Why a leadership revolution now? The rules of the game are changing. We are moving towards decentralisation globally in all sectors.
A big thank you to Leadership New Zealand and AUT for inviting two BGS NZ members to the recent annual Dinner with a Difference. The theme was ‘An Awakened Leadership Experience.’ The night was fun with lots of laughter as we discussed the future relationship between people and Artificial Intelligence.
A successful THOUGHT LAB #3 "Cloud Computing and Platforms". Netflix & Uber do it. Easyjet & the City of LA so it. The Australian Marine Authority & Delink do it. Should your business do it too? What are they doing? Their business strategy to run all or part their business on a cloud platform. Saurabh's presentation opened my eyes to new business models and their benefits. The world is more digital and cloud is bringing strategic existential value.
A successful THOUGHT LAB #2 "Crypto Decrypted". Paul & Jan are both software developers. They explained the basics of block-chain & then gave a live demo of how a crypto wallet works. Paul sent to Jan NZ$5 of crypto by scanning the QR code on screen. We got to see the transaction happening.
