WINTalk Project Connect Event Series: Mark Pesce (April 2019)
Mark Pesce is a futurist, inventor, author, entrepreneur and broadcaster. He has been at the forefront of the digital revolution for thirty-five years. AUT gave three BGS members the opportunity to attend this sought after event. A fantastic evening with many thought provoking ideas.
WINTalk Project Connect Event Series: Phoebe Tickell (March 2019)
A big thanks to AUT for providing BGS members a few complementary tickets to the WINTalk Project Connect Series with Phoebe Tickell on the topic of 'designing organisations to be more human.' This event was sold out, so the BGS members who were able to secure a seat were very fortunate. A lot of great discussions and a few controversial topics coming up from time-to-time made for an enjoyable evening.
INFINZ Inspire Event (November 2018)
Another big thanks to AUT for providing BGS an opportunity to be part of the INFINZ annual conference. Many great speakers, including Sir John Key, shared their view of NZ's economy and leadership needs going forward. Very interesting and thought provoking.
BLOCKWORKS (October 2018)
Blockworks conference. With a range of NZ and international speakers, the Blockworks conference showcased how blockchain technology is transforming business, government, and society. A number of fantastic case studies and real-world examples of how blockchain is transforming the way we do things. Thanks AUT for allowing BGS members to be a part of the day.
The Artificial Intelligence Show (September 2018)
A big thanks to AUT for inviting BGS members to attend the Artificial Intelligence show. Some fantastic speakers with interesting stories on how AI is transforming different industries.
IMB Future of Work Event (August 2018)
IBM held a presentation on how changing technology and demographics will affect patterns of work in developed and developing countries, and the emerging skills of the future. Targeting the 'C-Suite,' there were interesting points around how NZ leaders will have to be more proactive in regards to Artificial Intelligence. Big thanks to AUT for providing BGS members the opportunity to attend this presentation!
EY Future Female Leaders Event (July 2018)
An interesting night at the EY Future Female Leaders evening on Tuesday. Thanks EY for inviting our BGS members. The big topic of discussion was centered around the challenges women have in the workplace, and how to grow and support each other going forward. Leadership, female role models and mentors were seen to be a few effective ways to grow future female talent in NZ and abroad.
IMNZ and IBM Future of Work Event (July 2018)
Thanks to the Institute of Management New Zealand (IMNZ) in conjunction with IBM for the BGS member invitation to their Future of Work event held last week. There was great discussion on current research by IBM international v.s. what is faced by SMEs here locally in NZ. An interesting topic that came up was the influence of cross generational workplaces.
Leadership NZ 'Dinner with a Difference' Event (June 2018)
A big thank you to Leadership New Zealand and AUT for inviting two BGS NZ members to the recent annual Dinner with a Difference. The theme was ‘An Awakened Leadership Experience.’ The night was fun with lots of laughter as we discussed the future relationship between people and Artificial Intelligence.
Thought Lab #3: A Revolution in Leadership is Starting (June 2018)
A successful THOUGHT LAB #4 "A Revolution in Leadership is Starting". Alex Waddell, Director of Growth & Capability at Sigmoid Curve Consulting Group, gave a vibrant presentation that challenged our concept of the future of leadership in a changing world. Why a leadership revolution now? The rules of the game are changing. We are moving towards decentralisation globally in all sectors.

Thought Lab #3: Cloud Computing and Platforms (April 2018)
A successful THOUGHT LAB #3 "Cloud Computing and Platforms". Netflix & Uber do it. Easyjet & the City of LA so it. The Australian Marine Authority & Delink do it. Should your business do it too? What are they doing? Their business strategy to run all or part their business on a cloud platform. Saurabh's presentation opened my eyes to new business models and their benefits. The world is more digital and cloud is bringing strategic existential value.
Thought Lab #2: Crypto Decrypted (March 2018)
A successful THOUGHT LAB #2 "Crypto Decrypted". Paul & Jan are both software developers. They explained the basics of block-chain & then gave a live demo of how a crypto wallet works. Paul sent to Jan NZ$5 of crypto by scanning the QR code on screen. We got to see the transaction happening.

How the year has flown by! We had our final Beta Gamma Sigma networking event for 2016. It was great meeting new BGS members, and a big thanks to our invited business leaders - Gary Ivory (Deal Advisory Partner) and Nick McKay (Director in Deal Advisory) from KPMG New Zealand.
